A re-cap from Affiliate Summit East, Boston 2008
After seeing some friends I am gearing up to leave Boston and head back home. I have successfully reached my goal of driving all the way from California and attending the Affiliate Summit East of 2008. The experience has taught me a lot and this being my first Affiliate Summit I could not have been more pleased with the event. Here's a recap for all you affiliate soldiers who could not make it.
Affiliate Summit East 2008 Re-cap
Since this is officially my first post on AffiliateTips.com I will take this opportunity to present myself and how I got the chance to blog on this site. Working in the affiliate business for a couple of years now I am finally starting to get my head around affiliate marketing.
My first website I set up when I was around 14 and covered pretty much anything reklated to skateboarding. Back in those days I was perhaps too innocent to figure that money could be made. I had a roof over my head, food on the table and my skateboard so I guess money simple wasn't a priotiry. However, after being in the affiliate game a couple of years now and manage to established some lucrative sites I felt that it was time to earn the title as affiliate marketer by attending my first Affiliate Summit.
My journey started in Los Angeles, California and believe it or not, after buying my summit pass I made the whole trip to Boston in my half broken Sudan. This country is truly beautiful.
Day 1 - The Meet Market
Following previous Summits online and knew I was in for a great time and the 1 day of Affiliate Summit East truly delivered. The Meet Market was amazing; so many fellow affiliates and representatives. The networking was on and by the end of the session I had managed to some face-to-face time with really cool sponsors. Working online can be lonesome sometimes and standing in a room full of like minded people really blew my mind. The Meet Market was my favorite part of the whole event and I'm sure many thought so as well.
Day 2 - The State of Ad Networks
After a good breakfast it was time some affiliate forecasts and debates. The State of Ad Networks session has some interesting points and since I have always found performance based better before CPM this was the session for me. Bob King from ClickBank did a good job and though some speakers I was unfamiliar with it was a good seminar all in all.
Day 3 - Missed the Game :-(
Spent most of my time on day 3 in the exibition hall, attending Web 2.0 for Affiliates and Ethical Issues in Affiliate Marketing. Had gotten to know some guys during the Day 2. They were going to the game after texas vs red sox but unfortunately I missed the game due to a miscalculation. To sum up I really enjoyed the Summit and since the affiliate business is mostly a one man deal everybody seemed to enjoy a little company. I know I did.
See you in Las Vegas :-)
