Dedicate Your Site to a Single Merchant

We have noticed that many affiliates seem to promote any product they come across that offers a high commission. In doing so, these affiliates risk the chance of losing a big part of their potential earnings. If you were to promote way too many products/brands your visitors will experience your site as somewhat messy and in worst case scenario as spammy – sure bet to make them walk the other way.

“When it comes to the domain name, it might be a good idea to try and buy a domain that already exists and that in some way is related to your chosen merchant/product.”

One way of avoiding this problem is to create a site that is dedicated to a single merchant or product. This way you’ll be able to dedicate more resources on one lucrative merchant/program. Remember though that this is a better alternative for products that are on the more expensive side – it’s not a bad idea for cheap products but the possibilities of great earnings won’t be as good. If you’re going to promote cheap products you’ll want more of a spread.

Why Is Dedication a Good Idea?

If you put all of your efforts in one basket you’ll be able to concentrate the keywords to one topic which will increase chances on getting a good rank on them. In spreading the keywords on several different segments you’ll have to compete with much more affiliates, not only when it comes the earnings, but also on getting the highest possible rank on search engines. Getting traffic is a must if you want to be a truly successful affiliate, making the big cash.

When it comes to the domain name, it might be a good idea to try and buy a domain that already exists and that in some way is related to your chosen merchant/product. The reason for this is that it may take up to 9 months before search engines start trusting domains and ranking them high. With this said, don’t despair if you can’t find an already existing name to buy and use – if you come up with a good new one and fill the site with great content and learn SEO you won’t have to worry.

What Should I Add on the Site?

Since you’re going to run an affiliate site that is entirely dedicated to one merchant you have to fill it with content that is relevant for the merchant/brand/product. Your visitors should be able to benefit from the articles that you’re adding – either by it being good for their knowledge or by it being simply entertaining. Why not review the products and add industry related news to the site.

You really have to get creative here but anything that is related to your product or merchant will probably be a good idea writing about. One of the great things with devoting the site to a single merchant is that you’ll be able to get much for free in just being connected to its brand – that is if it’s a strong brand of course. So, if you find a merchant with expensive merchandise – try and setting up a dedicated website.
